Roma went ahead against 15-time Champions League winners Real Madrid through Marten De Roon’s stunner at the – but Kylian Mbappe was on hand to level the game shortly after in an entertaining start.

Real are looking to make it two from two in the league phase of this season’s competition but knew the match against the Serie A side would be no easy task as the hosts threatened early on.

After Paulo Dybala and Mario Hermoso went close, De Roon curled home a wonderful opener on the edge of the box after being picked out by Mathias Soule.

Roma’s joy was short-lived, however, as Mbappe drew Real level with a fairly impressive finish of his own, firing into the back of the net with the help of a deflection for his 72nd goal in the competition.
