The eight-episode drama stars some huge names like Rufus Sewell and Frances O'Connor.

Fans of twisty family dramas are urged to add an upcoming Netflix series to their streaming lists.

Netflix has just unveiled an exciting new project for fans of unpredictable dramas that is set in New Zealand, with "as many twists and turns as the most treacherous ski run".

The series comes from writer Chloe Sterns, who has been hailed an "extraordinary voice" by the show's executive producers, Jodi Matterson and Libbie Doherty.

Also teasing an "exceptional cast", the pair told Netflix's Tudum: “We’re incredibly grateful to Amanda Duthie and the entire Netflix team for backing our vision to help bring what we believe will become audiences’ next obsession.”

Queenstown, the name of the show in question, is now in production and it is being filmed on location in the same New Zealand town.

Here is all we know so far about the series and who will be starring in it.

The show's official synopsis teases: "Beneath the glamour of Queenstown’s luxury ski scene, a privileged family and the people who work for them collide over power, loyalty, and desire."

The cast features The Diplomat star Rufus Sewell, along with Wednesday's Frances O’Connor and Apple Cider Vinegar's Alycia Debnam-Carey.

The Convert's Te Kohe Tuhaka and Cape Fear's Anna Baryshnikov are also on board, along with The Gentlemen's Jamie Ward and Strife's BeBe Orleans.

Final castings so far include The Hunting Wives star Alex FitzAlan and My Life is Murder's Tatum Warren-Ngata.

The series is set in a breathtaking environment, and Netflix's New Zealand director, Amanda Duthie, shared: "This is a bold, propulsive story of power, class and family set against the opulent world of a luxury ski town, and we can't wait for our members to fall in love with this series the way we have."

Fans took to Reddit to share their initial thoughts, with one saying: "Rufus Sewell will make me watch at least one episode. He is great."

Another added: "Looks like they are going for a hot cast, possibly getting semi soap opera vibes from it TBH."

"Rufus Sewell is a good actor. I'll watch it," another shared. Over on X, a final fan concluded: "Exciting cast lineup! Looking forward to seeing what this new Netflix series brings."

Queenstown will air on Netflix
