More on Tielemans transfer decision

It is being claimed in Belgium by journalist Sacha Tavolieri that a Youri Tielemans exit was already under consideration by Aston Villa.

To remain financially compliant, selling the 29-year-old was a serious option given he arrived on a free transfer and had two years remaining on his contract at Villa Park.

He has also stated that Villa will sign a replacement this summer.

Barca eye sale to avoid Man City transfer penalty

According to The Athletic, Barcelona are open to selling Ferran Torres.

It has been said that extending his contract would force them to pay £68million to Manchester City.

The Spain international has 12 months remaining on his contract at the Camp Nou but no renewal has been agreed.

The 26-year-old signed on a five-year deal in 2022 for an initial €55million (£46m) plus €10million (£8.5m) in add-ons, which have been achieved.

A clause in the deal means that if they were to extend, it would cost up to €8million (£6.8m) which would be payable to City.

No approach made for Bruno Guimaraes

More on Bruno Guimaraes, The Chronicle's Newcastle writer Lee Ryder says that they still haven't received an official approach from Arsenal, let alone an offer, for the Brazilian.

Their stance remains unchanged that the captain is not for sale and is expected to report back to training after his holiday.

There are no Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) issues and no pressure for a sale at all.

Bruno Guimaraes transfer promise rubbished

The Telegraph reported earlier that Arsenal are weighing up whether to continue their pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes after being misled over a £50million fee.

It was suggested by representatives that he could leave Newcastle United if they didn't qualify for the Champions League for a sum in the region of £50million, following discussions with former Magpies co-owner Amanda Staveley.

However, the report has been met with some kick-back from Mehrdad Ghoudoussi, also a former co-owner at St James' Park.

He responded: "Utter nonsense."

Luke Edwards, Northern Football Writer for the Telegraph, has followed up to say that he has spoken to Staveley this morning, who has confirmed the reports not to be true that an agreement was in place that he could be available for the figure - should they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Aston Villa rocked with Tielemans and Digne interest

Blooming heck, feel like Paddy has given me a hospital pass here.

The Telegraph's John Percy has reported that Youri Tielemans has a £35million release clause. David Ornstein has reported that the deal has gone through that trigger with Aston Villa unwilling to sell and wanted to offer fresh terms to the Belgium star.

Villa have been left with "little choice", The Athletic chief says.

Daily Mail's Tom Collomosse has reported that further change could be coming at Villa Park with Lucas Digne wanted by PSG.

The France full-back could see his release clause triggered by the Champions League holders.

Andoni Iraola: Liverpool are workng hard to sign more players

Andoni Iraola is undertaking Liverpool media responsibilities for the first time as he addresses reports on Merseyside.

The Spaniard will be tasked with transforming the Reds after fortunes became stale under Premier League-winning head coach Arne Slot.

Yes, football supporters want to know about style of play and all that but what about the nature of the beast, transfers.

The Basque tactician says they need more and he wants more.

He said:

"We've signed two players already but we need more, the club are working on this. As a head coach selfishly you want the players here from day one but I understand football doesn't work like this, the club is working hard to get those signings and I've been trying to help also.
"I talked to the players, staff, about the things that worked well, things we can do differently, I wouldn't say better. I think it's different, I have the advantage that players already know what we will demand, style of play but we will have time to know each other. Ask the player where they are comfortable, where they see themselves but after I will see them train, I will test during pre-season and take decisions from there."

United in advanced talks to sign Tielemans

David Ornstein of The Athletic has claimed that Manchester United are in advanced talks to sign Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans.

It has been said that work is ongoing to finalise a deal to bring the Belgian to Old Trafford with the 29-year-old "keen" on a move.

The move for Ederson is "off for now", he says, and one that could be revisited. Tielemans is into the final 18 months of his current deal at Villa Park and the change in tact is seen as a move after they abandoned signing the Atalanta midfielder.

It makes for an unsettling period for the Europa League holders with the same outlet reporting that Unai Emery wanted to build his midfield around Tielemans, Boubacar Kamara and Amadou Onana. The latter since suffering a serious knee injury.

Man United and the Ederson transfer conundrum

Some more transfer hullabaloo as the Manchester Evening News has reported that the Red Devils will seek to renegotiate the deal that they've agreed with Atalanta over Ederson.

United remain open to completing a move for the 27-year-old, despite reports and aforementioned hullabaloo surrounding a failed switch, despite concerns over a knee injury that he suffered last season. The deal has become complex after the medical raised concerns.

Michael Carrick's side could try to restructure the deal to bring the Brazilian to Old Trafford having agreed a deal of £35million plus £3.8m in add-ons six weeks ago. Personal terms over a four-year deal are also in place.

Arsenal weighing up Guimaraes move after transfer twist

According to The Telegraph, Arsenal are weighing up whether to proceed in their efforts to sign Bruno Guimaraes.

The Gunners are said to have initially believed that he could move for only £50million but have been left surprised by his asking price.

Mikel Arteta's side reportedly became interested when they were told by intermediaries that he could leave St James' Park at a bargain price. However, the Magpies have taken a hardened stance.

Arsenal were said to have been encouraged by the chances of launching a £50million bid to open talks after representatives held conversations with Amanda Staveley, former co-owner of Newcastle, who said they'd be willing to offers of that nature if the Magpies failed to qualify for the Champions League. But it was never guaranteed and Staveley has since moved on.

Guimaraes has no release clause and has two years left on his deal with the option of a further year. Arsenal, it has been reported, are now weighing up whether they want to pay in excess of £50million for a player who turns 29 this year.

Arsenal jumpstarting Julian Alvarez interest

Arsenal are set to jumpstart their interest in Atletico Madrid and Argentina forward Julian Alvarez, according to the Independent. Alvarez has been linked with the Gunners for the majority of the summer.

He did have his heart set on a move to Barcelona, but Atletico have been left unimpressed by the way they have negotiated and have referred the Catalans to his humongous €500m buyout clause.

However, Arsenal would not have to meet that figure. Instead, it's believed £100m may be enough for Atletico to sell to the Gunners.
