The Rockgeist BarJam Cradle is a redesign of the original cradle system released in 2017. Though the system has seen updates and improvements over the years, the basic idea has stayed the same. A clamp-and-bar system places a drybag just off the bars, keeping the harness and bag away from the bars. With the BarJam Cradle, the harness system now features two 6061 aluminum bolt-on brackets and cradle arms that extend the attached drybag out and downwards, past cables and away from the head tube. Rockgeist says the cradle arms add stability and hold gear tight while bouncing down the trail.
Available now, the BarJam Cradle can be ordered by itself or as a package deal. Users can add voile straps, a dry bag, and their small Horton front pouch to complete the system. Customers also have a choice between 35, 31.8, and 22.2mm clamp diameter, as well as the length of the accessory bar. What’s great to hear is that, despite the redesign, Rockgeist says that users can upgrade their old BarJam to the BarJam Cradle by purchasing just the cradle arms.
The new system retails at $195 and includes a pair of handlebar brackets, the carbon fiber accessory bar, a pair of cradle arms with swivel J-hooks, a pair of Hypalon strap keepers, and their Armadillo drybag protector. If you’re just looking for the cradle arms, those are available for $90. The recommended maximum load of the system, new or upgraded, is roughly 3.5 kg (7.7lbs).
