Mikel Arteta was booked during the first half as Arsenal struggled to break down Sunderland in the Premier League at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

Fourth official Elliot Bell spoke to referee John Brooks before Arteta, who is known for stepping outside of his technical area, was cautioned for the offence.

“Mikel Arteta says ‘well, I’m going to write a note about you as well’, former England forward Dean Ashton told TalkSport.

“But John Brooks has dished out a yellow card. The embarrassment’s terrific isn’t it, for Arteta?”
