Alleging that SIR (Special Intensive Revision) process was not being properly implemented in Hubballi city, Hubballi Dharwad Central MLA Mahesh Tenginakai said that he would file a complaint with the Election Commission of India in this regard.

Addressing reporters here on Monday, Mr. Tenginakai said that the SIR process was being carried out as per the instructions of the Congress-led State government and even after complaining to the Deputy Commissioner of Dharwad, no remedial action had been taken.

Mr. Tenginakai said that there were 266 polling stations in Hubballi Dharwad Central Assembly segment and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were supposed to visit the households three times. “However, they have visited only once and subsequently have carried out the process by sitting at their respective booths,” he alleged.

He also alleged that there were several discrepancies in the SIR carried out so far.

“As per the data, around 22,000 voters are being shown as permanently shifted. However, earlier they had said that they had distributed enumeration forms to all,” he said, alleging that such instances had been reported in his constituency leading to large-scale deletion of voters.

Mr. Tenginakai said that already they had filed a complaint with the State Election Commission and as nothing had been done, they would lodge complaint with the Election Commission of India also.
