A Mumbai-bound SAS Airlines Airbus A330 aircraft returned to Copenhagen in Denmark after six hours of flight due to technical reasons.
Flight tracking website Flightradar 24 showed that the Airbus A330 aircraft turned back to base after flying all the way up to Turkiye. The aircraft took off from Copenhagen in Denmark at 4.25 pm local time and returned six hours later.
In a statement SAS Airlines said the flight returned to Copenhagen following a technical indication.
The pilots decided to return to base to avoid a prolonged grounding in Mumbai. It said necessary technical assessment could be carried out with quicker access to technical team in Copenhagen. “We will look after the passengers and rebook them on next available flight,” the airline said.
SAS Airlines began it’s India operations from October 2. Originally it planned to start operations in June but the inaugural flight had to turn back after seven hours as the airline did not have necessary regulatory approval from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
Subsequently SAS Airlines secured approval and launched it’s five weekly service to Mumbai from October 2
