The 2026 Arizona Trail Race begins tomorrow morning, with riders setting off on either a 300- or 800-mile route across the Grand Canyon State. Find a collection of bike and gear details for over half of the folks lining up for the grand depart in our latest race rig roundup here…

Arizona Trail Race 2026

The Arizona Trail Race is an unofficial challenge that spans the entire state. Two distance options are available: the Arizona Trail 300, a 300-mile event held yearly since 2006, and the Arizona Trail 800, the complete traverse from Mexico to Utah, first offered in 2010 as the AZTR750. Both routes are run concurrently, and at the same time and place: Border Monument 103 at 6 a.m. MST. A second AZTR 300 grand depart sets off on October 15th.

Just over 40 riders are registered for live tracking at this year’s event, with most starting tomorrow morning, and 16 more AZT300 riders taking off on October 15th. There are many familiar names, but as we know, anything can happen out there between the technical terrain, hike-a-bike, and unexpected weather changes.

With help from race director John Schilling and the participants, we gathered rig details for more than half the field. As always, we’ve included bike and bag details, as well as which GPS/navigation device each rider is using and which route they’ll be tackling. Dig into them all below, and head over to our 2026 Arizona Trail Race Tracker Page for regular updates and race coverage.

Age 38 / Boise, Idaho (USA)

2026 Arizona Trail Race Rigs

BIKE: I’ll be riding/hike-a-biking an Esker Japhy set up with an Old Man Mountain Elkhorn rack so that I can use my dropper post. It has a 120mm Fox Stepcast fork, and I just switched it over to fresh 2.4″ Specialized Ground Control tires for this event.
BAGS: A mix of MYOG, Rogue Panda, Revelate Designs, and Old Man Mountain.
GEAR HIGHLIGHTS: I made the backpack that I’ll be wearing from the start and using for the Grand Canyon Portage. I also made my own front cradle out of a bar riser, zip ties, and a piece of foam. I am bringing a Tarptent in case of rain and a 20-degree quilt because I get cold easily at night. I have several charging blocks to keep my electronics running. The bike can carry 6.5L of water, and I can put an additional 3L in my backpack if needed for particularly hot/dry sections.
