Retail Inflation based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose to 4.45 per cent as against 4.38 per cent of June, Statistics Ministry reported on Wednesday.

“Corresponding inflation rates for rural and urban are 4.84 per cent and 3.96 per cent, respectively,” the Ministry said in a release. Further, year-on-year inflation rate based on All India Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) for the month of July, 2026 over July, 2025 was 5.52 per cent (Provisional). Corresponding inflation rates for rural and urban are 5.79 per cent and 5.05 per cent, respectively.

Silver jewellery continues to lead with around 110 per cent inflation, followed by ginger at around 84 per cent, garlic at around 36 per cent, Gold/Diamond/Platinum Jewellery at around 33 per cent and onion at around 23 per cent. Among goods with low inflation include potato (-16.6 per cent), Motor Car & Jeep (-6.72 per cent), lady finger (-5.52 per cent), peas (-5.27 per cent) and tomato (-4.6 per cent).
