Tate McRae est déjà la grande gagnante des prix Juno 2026, puisqu'elle a déjà remporté le titre d'artiste de l'année, album de l'année et album pop de l'année (So Close To What, RCA/Sony) et chanson de l'année (Sports Car). D'autres récompenses pourraient venir compléter son succès dimanche soir lors d'une cérémonie qui sera animée par l'humoriste Mae Martin.

Néanmoins, l'artiste a brillé par son absence samedi, se fardant d'un remerciement discret sur ses réseaux sociaux. Par ailleurs, elle s'est imposée face aux grands favoris Justin Bieber et The Weeknd, qui n'étaient pas non plus présents.

Rien n'indique qu'elle se déplacera dimanche, contrairement à Mae Martin, hôte de cérémonie, et du premier ministre Mark Carney, qui prévoit aussi d'être de la partie.

Une variété de genres

Parmi les autres lauréats de samedi figuraient Colin Whitcomb, originaire de la Colombie-Britannique, qui a remporté le prix de l'album country de l'année pour The Hard Way (Atlantic/Warner), et Daniel Caesar, d’Oshawa (Ontario), a été sacré auteur-compositeur de l'année.

Aucun des deux n'étaient non plus présent pour recevoir leur prix samedi. Ils devraient cependant être là dimanche, puisqu'ils doivent se produire lors de la cérémonie de clôture, lors de laquelle Daniel Caesar recevra également le prix d'excellence internationale.

Le spectacle mettra aussi en vedette les chanteuses Joni Mitchell, qui recevra un prix pour l'ensemble de sa carrière, ainsi Nelly Furtado, qui sera intronisée au Panthéon de la musique canadienne.
