INC Karnataka’s Sagar Eshwar Khandre said that the Centre’s share for ASHA and anganwadi workers’ salaries have not been delivered properly, and must be increased to ensure quality of life for the essential workers. 

Speaking on taxes, he said that tax excemptions are granted by the Central government only to be revoked later, causing a lot of issues for the middle class.

Ramji, BSP MP from Uttar Pradesh, highlights the issue of underutilisation of SC and ST funds by the government, created for the development and benefit of the community. He urged the government to use the funds efficiently and towards the development of the people from the SC and ST communities. 

He also raised the issue of the Guest Lecturer being removed from the post after years of service, and urged the government to take action to safeguard their interests. 

The government has called an all-party meeting on the West Asia crisis on Wednesday (March 25, 2026), sources said.

This comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to Parliament on the West Asia situation.

The Prime Minister on Monday (March 23, 2026) said the difficult global conditions caused by the West Asia conflict are likely to persist for a long time and called upon the nation to remain prepared and united, just as it had stood together during the COVID-19 pandemic.

PM Modi said that families of deceased Indians in the Gulf are being assisted by the government. He said that the government is taking “all possible measures” to ensure LPG and fuel supply, and its resilience if the war continues for longer. India holds 53 lakh metric tonnes of strategic petroleum reserves, he said. 

The government, to replace LPG, has been promoting PNG, he said. “There has been large-scale efforts to increase domestic LPG production,” PM Modi said, adding that this is one of the efforts to make India self reliant. 

Rajya Sabha reconvened after adjournment at 2 p.m. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed Indian ships and crew stuck in Strait of Hormuz due to the Israel-Iran conflict. Mr. Modi said that he had two rounds of dicussions with gulf leaders.

PM Modi said that India’s objective is to ensure regional peace through dialogue and discussion. 

Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, TDP, Andhra Pradesh, said that the economy has thrived in the past 5 years despite the challenges. He said that India is one of the fastest growing economies with 7% GST growth.

However, he said that some bottlenecks in the taxation system needs to be addressed. He proposed three solutions to improve tax compliance and process. 

“Trust the taxpayer. Create an atmosphere in which the taxpayers can come and declare their assets,” he said. 

Offering criticisms for the Budget, he said that utilisation of the funds matters more than budgetary allocations. He also asked the Finance Ministry to prepone the AI target to 2 years -- with 1 million GPUs by 2028 -- to ensure balance of payments and self reliance.

He said that although the semiconductor industry is allocated funds, it is not being spent. He said that the semiconductor industry could potentially prevent ‘brain drain’ by bringing back professionals to the country. 

Multiple MPs brought up the increasing weath gap in India and how a huge percent of taxes continue to come from the poor rather than the rich. Dr. Kirsan Namdeo, INC, Maharashtra accused the government of disinvesting from public sector enterprises set up by Congress. 

Advocate Priya Saroj, SP, Uttar Pradesh, accused the government of using funds meant for the people to pay off debts and huge EMIs. She criticised the reduction of corporate taxes and asked where is the money sourced from now. 

Women MPs on Tuesday welcomed the Centre’s plans to bring legislations to implement the women’s reservation law during the ongoing Budget session of Parliament, saying the move will further strengthen women’s participation in governance.

JD(U) MP Lovely Anand termed it a “welcome step” and said greater participation of women in politics will accelerate the country’s progress.

“This is a very welcome and commendable step. Only when women come forward, will the country progress. Men and women are like the two wheels of a vehicle. Both the prime minister and the Bihar chief minister have worked towards empowering women,” she told reporters inside Parliament House complex.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday (March 24, 2026) announced that the resignation of MP from Assam Pradyut Bordoloi, who quit the Congress and joined the BJP, has been accepted.

Mr. Bordoloi, who was elected to the Lok Sabha from Nagaon for two consecutive terms on Congress ticket, resigned from the opposition party on March 17 and subsequently joined the BJP.

The saffron party a day later gave him a ticket to contest the forthcoming Assam Assembly elections from Dispur seat.

Jaggat Prakasha Nadda, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, said that 12 medical colleges were built in North-East India in the past decade. He also said that multiple medical colelges were upgraded. Quoting a Lancet report, the treatment of cancer starts a month after detection in India.

When asked about building more hospitals in Nagaland, he said that it is a continuous process and the ministry will do the needful.

Pralhad Joshi, Minister of Consumer Affairs, said that the changes in BIS certification for electronic items were to increase ease of business. He assured that market samples of products are procured and if it fails, especially for electronic products, the Ministry of Information Technology will be informed. 

Sakhet Gokhale pointed to the loopholes in the BIS certifications, like how it is given to particular units of productions. He asked how many BIS certified products ended up not aligning with the standards.

Answering another question, he said that action is being taken against misleading advertising and packaging.

Manish Tewari, INC, Chandigarh, said that experts warn about the catastrophic energy shock that will be caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. He asked, in light of the changing global situation, “is the Budget still valid?” 

He said that the Budget estimates laid on February 2026 is outdated now. 

Congress MP Vijay Vasanth on Tuesday (March 24, 2026) moved an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha seeking an urgent discussion on the LPG cylinder shortage and the alleged supply of underweight cylinders at inflated prices.

He highlighted that the crisis has disrupted essential services, forced closures of hotels and canteens, and caused hardship for the public, particularly vulnerable groups.The MP urged the government to take immediate action to ensure adequate supply, regulate prices, and provide relief.

Mukul Balkrishna Waskik, INC, Rajasthan raised the issue of rising atrocities and violence against SC, ST and marginalised people. “On average, everyday, 12 dalit females are raped.” he said. 

“In courts, more than 90% of cases are pending. Conviction rates are low,” he said. He said that a proper protocol must be followed to find justice for victims of communal violence. 

Sougata Ray, AITC, said that the Minister is “ignoring” questions about doubling farmers’ income and farmers’ suicides. “When is he going to achieve the pronounced by the government [of doubling farmers’ income]?”

Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, asserted that farmers’ income has doubled, and some farmers’ income increased over eight times. He said that the government has created schemes to solve problems. He pointed to the 5 lakh crore rupee allocation for agriculture and allied sectors in the budget. 

PM Modi, addressing the Lok Sabha on Monday (March 23, 2026) on key aspects of the ongoing West Asia conflict, termed the prevailing situation in West Asia “worrisome” as it is having a very adverse impact on the global economy and the livelihoods of people. “The current situation in West Asia is worrisome. This crisis has been going on for more than three weeks, having a very adverse impact on the global economy and on people’s lives. The entire world is urging all parties to resolve this crisis as quickly as possible,” PM Modi said.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday (March 23, 2026) introduced the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha. The House adopted a motion to send the bill to a Joint Parliamentary Committee for detailed examination. The bill seeks further amendments to the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008, and the Companies Act, 2013.
