Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThere has been recent confirmation that the stand-alone Ben Solo Star Wars spin-off, titled Star Wars: The Hunt for Kylo Ren, will not be picked up by Disney and Lucasfilm despite fans advocating for the project. The film was set to be directed by Steven Soderbergh and written by Rebecca Blunt, starring Adam Driver in his fourth appearance as the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia and seeing the character take on a redemption arc following the events of the sequel trilogy (2015-2019).
Speaking at D23, Lucasfilm’s new CCO, Dave Filoni, replied to questions about whether there was any progress with the spin-off, “It’s not here; you won’t find it here.”
“The force is not with us in that regard,” he added. “I love the love you feel for it.”
April saw news that the Ben Solo/Kylo Ren stand-alone adventure had been canned as Disney’s Bob Iger and Alan Bergman turned the spin-off project down, despite Kathleen Kennedy, the previous president at Lucasfilm, and several others backing the pitch.
“Well, I don’t want to say [it had no influence], because then it makes it seem like, you know, ‘I watched Andor, and it had absolutely no impact on me,’ which is not true, it was great,” Soderbergh shared upon the film’s reported cancellation. “But this was [all] before Andor aired. Adam and I started talking, and this would have been almost three years ago now.”
