NEW DELHI: National Disaster Response Force Thursday said there is no adverse impact of Nepal’s glacial lake outburst floods on Indian side even as Centre and states are monitoring the situation in bordering districts of UP and Bihar to mitigate any risk from excessive river waters flowing into India.NDRF has deployed 20 teams — 11 in UP and nine in Bihar — for evacuation, relief and rescue operations in case these areas experience floods and waterlogging. These include an NDRF team deployed in Kushinagar district, near Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh.

In a media briefing, NDRF IG Narendra Bundela said floods have caused massive destruction in Nepal with hundreds of people, including Indian tourists, reported missing.Govt is monitoring the excessive flow of water in the first barrage along India-Nepal border in Bihar’s Valmiki Nagar (West Champaran district) on Gandak river, and the situation is under control. On humanitarian assistance offered to Nepal, Bundela said India despatched two planeloads of assistance and relief cargo, including medicines, to Kathmandu Wednesday and Thursday.
