Manchester City‘s 100 percent start to the new season faces its biggest test yet as Enzo Maresca’s side host Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

City have won all eight of their games so far, having impressively saw off 10-man Liverpool last Sunday in their first game since the club was found guilty of 114 breaches of Premier League financial rules.

While that cloud continues to hang over City’s season, the visit of holders PSG, looking to become the fourth different club to win three consecutive Champions League/European Cup titles, represents a mouthwatering prospect

After a slow start to the season, Luis Enrique’s side have begun to gather momentum, though they still trail leaders Monaco by three points in Ligue 1.

PSG began their latest Champions League defence with a 6-1 win over Slovan Bratislava, but a victory at the Etihad Stadium would send a huge message to their rivals for Europe’s biggest prize.

• City are unbeaten at home against Paris (W3 D1), winning each of the last three games – most recently 2-1 on Matchday 5 in 2021/22.
• The English club also triumphed against Paris in the 2015/16 quarter-finals (2-2 a, 1-0 h) and the 2020/21 semi-finals (2-1 a, 2-0 h).
• City have lost only two of their last eight matches against French opponents (W5 D1) although they have won only one of their last four (D1 L2), drawing the last 2-2 at Monaco on Matchday 2 last season.
• Paris are unbeaten in their last 11 matches against English teams (W8 D3), beating Aston Villa 2-1 in August’s UEFA Super Cup. Last season’s Champions League final against Arsenalis the only fixture in the last six they did not win in normal time.
