Dockers continue to blow it going inside 50

Freo continues to blast away as they try and go inside 50 and the Swans defence is eating it up right now.

They've had enough of the footy around the ground, but the attacking entries are leaving a lot to be desired.

Two minutes to go in the half, can they find a goal from somewhere?

McInerney drills set shot after free kick

Justin McInerney causes the SCG to explode once again as he drills a set shot from 40m out on a tricky angle.

Sydney with just a little bit more intensity at the footy right now, and they're getting rewarded.

A loose ball inside 50 for the Swans and Andy Brayshaw gives away the free kick after holding McInerney without the footy.

Freo's big men are floundering out there so far.

Pat Voss yet to have a possession, while Josh Treacy and Jye Amiss have combined for just six.

Dudley with the quick response for Freo!

My goodness did the Dockers need that goal!

They get the centre bounce clearance after the Cleary goal and Hayden Young stands up in a tackle and dishes off to Isaiah Dudley, who drills it on the run.

Two goals apiece in this quarter so far.

Cleary drills the set shot to perfection!

Barry Hall's kids are in the stands with their tops off again as Caiden Cleary sails home a set shot!

More terrific forward pressure again as Shai Bolton's snap out of the forward pocket lands in Cleary's lap.

"I'm not sure I've seen their senior core as rattled as this. Sydney have rattled them," David King says on Freo's performance on Fox Footy.

Frederick ends Freo's goal drought after free kick

A chorus of boos ring around the SCG as Michael Frederick snaps home Freo's third goal of the match.

Angus Sheldrick was pinged for what the umpire deemed to be a high fend-off as Frederick attempted to tackle him.

That's a much-needed goal for Frederick and Freo to just stay in touch.

McDonald extends Sydney's game-high lead

The Swans go from end-to-end again and get another goal!

Great stuff by Billy Cootee on the wing as he fights hard to keep a ball alive and gets it forward towards Tom Papley.

Papley snaps towards Logan McDonald in the square and Oscar McDonald gives away the free kick for front-on contact.

McDonald snaps truly from close range to give the Swans a 23-point lead. They've kicked five straight!

Three missed set shots for Freo to start second term

We've had three set shots from Freo that haven't gone through so far.

Two of them to Jye Amiss and the other to Michael Frederick.

Rowbottom with an early miss after another forward 50 tackle

James Rowbottom with a narrow miss to the right after winning a free kick inside 50 following a lovely tackle on Alex Pearce.

The Swans really could've been much further ahead had they kicked a little straighter.

Nevertheless, this 17-point lead is a game-high.

Murphy or Midphy Reid?

Hi Chris. Just wondering, if Murphy Reid is terrified of physical contact, allergic to defensive effort AND unable to hit a target by foot, what exactly is he providing to this team? If Freo get up here they should think about replacing him with O’Meara or even Brennan Cox for the GF.

Freo's All-Australian was another one who was pretty quiet in the opening term.

He's had six touches but has had little to no impact on the game.

Will the Swans regret their inaccuracy?

Good start from the Swannies, but they could have kicked well clear. Freo will come back, Sydney might regret it later!

- Allan

It's a valid point Allan, particularly with those two posters coming on very, very gettable shots.

They'd have backed Papley to kick his missed set shot as well.

It really could've been a lot uglier for Freo at this stage.

Another brilliant quarter at the SCG by the Swans sees them take a 16-point lead into the first change.

Freo had what would've been just about the perfect start by kicking the first two goals early, but Sydney's response has been absolutely immense.

The Swans' pressure has been absolutely manic, and they've swallowed up the Dockers all around the ground.

Sydney has laid 16 tackles to 11 including eight of those coming in their forward 50.

The Swans have a slight edge in the inside 50 count (17-16), while the Dockers lead the clearance count (8-6).

Sydney's Errol Gulden is the leading ball-winner on the ground with eight disposals, while Caleb Serong has added five touches and a game-high three clearances.

Logan McDonald has also been lively up forward for the Swans and leads all players with four score involvements.

Freo's big forward trio virtually non-existent so far, they'll need to lift to get out of this hole.

Fri 18 Sep 2026 at 8:08pmFri 18 Sep 2026 at 8:08pm

Dattoli with another poster as Swans continue heat

Sydney's pressure factor right now is at 319, I don't know that I've ever seen that figure that high.

Freo lucky not to be further behind as Jesse Dattoli hits the post after winning a free kick inside 50.

The Swans are absolutely ripping the Dockers up on transition last nith.

Nine scoring shots to three says it all.

Fri 18 Sep 2026 at 8:05pmFri 18 Sep 2026 at 8:05pm

Hanily dribbles home Sydney's fourth in a row!

Tom Hanily with some brilliant crumbing at the foot of the big key forwards!

A lovely kick off halfback from Jai Serong finds Logan McDonald on the wing and McDonald rolls around and sends it forwards.

Tom Papley and Charlie Curnow win a crucial two-on-two at half-forward and Papley sends it forward before Hanily's crumbing goal.

Fri 18 Sep 2026 at 8:03pmFri 18 Sep 2026 at 8:03pm

Sydney's forward 50 pressure is manic right now

The Swans have six tackles inside their forward 50 to Freo's two.

They've had nine inside 50 entries in the last 10 minutes, and lead the overall count 13-12.

Fri 18 Sep 2026 at 7:59pmFri 18 Sep 2026 at 7:59pm

McLean hits the post as Swans' positive momentum continues

Hayden McLean with a poor miss as he hits the right-hand upright from virtually directly in front.

Sydney's forward 50 entries have been excellent so far. They've got two marks inside 50 to Freo's one.

Fri 18 Sep 2026 at 7:58pmFri 18 Sep 2026 at 7:58pm

McDonald makes it three straight for the Swans

Logan McDonald sneaks home a set shot from 35m out from a slight angle and the SCG erupts again!

Excellent stuff from Braeden Campbell as he kept a ball on the wing alive with a deft tap and then Charlie Curnow finds McDonald with a lovely kick inside 50.

That's the beauty of Curnow, he's equally adept at setting goals up as he is kicking them himself.

Free kick denies Dudley an early goal

We've got our first big call of the evening!

Isaiah Dudley snaps at goal and the ball sails through as Joel Hamling gets bundled over inside the square by Jye Amiss.

However, the umpire blows the whistle and gives Hamling the free kick.

I've got to say I think that one was there.

Fri 18 Sep 2026 at 7:52pmFri 18 Sep 2026 at 7:52pm

Papley gets Sydney's second straight with beautiful snap

Tom Papley is off and running for the evening!

He stands front and square from congestion perfectly and receives the handball before snapping truly on the right boot.

Great stuff from the Swans forwards to keep that ball alive when it looked for all money that it was about to be a ball-up.

There is no way Judd McVee can give Papley that kind of time and space inside 50, he'll cut you to shreds.

It's been an excellent response from the Swans after Freo's fast start.

Fri 18 Sep 2026 at 7:51pmFri 18 Sep 2026 at 7:51pm

Swans defence holding up well under pressure

Fremantle leads the inside 50 count 7-2, but so far the Swans defence has been up to the mark with a couple of good intercept marks.

Errol Gulden looking busy early, he leads all players with four touches through the first five minutes.

Again, I must stress, I've never heard a Swans crowd sound like this at the SCG. They are AMPED.
