We told you earlier that England's Adam Ramsay-Peaty was emotional after his bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke last night behind Australia's Sam Williamson.

He's up in the latest heat of the men's 50m breaststroke, and he's gone off fast, however it's a bit of a splash and dash, if not quite as much as the 50 freestyle.

He touches the wall first in 27.27 seconds, the fastest time so far. But he is only 0.02 ahead of Jersey's Filip Nowacki (27.29) and Canada's Oliver Dawson in 27.47. 

Commonwealth Games debutant GS Sophie Garbin has secured Australia's first goal of the match, taking the shot after a contact penalty was awarded in the Diamonds' favour.

The girls are too quick for me, GA Kiera Austin has already got another rung on the scoreboard for the Diamonds!

But our English opponents aren't going down without a fight, they've already scored a couple of goals in the first quarter too.

I cannot overstate how well the Garbin-Austin combo is working for Australia in the goal circle, we're already starting to pull ahead of the Roses.

The score sits at 11-4 in our favour!

Dawn Hayman and Kelsey Cottrell with a fantastic win over Niue in the women's pairs.

Twice they scored with all six bowls.

They won 11-1, 16-0.

That's crucial as they attempt to win their section.

They now sit on top of their section with four wins and one loss.

Second placed Northern Ireland are about to take on third placed Guernsey in a game that will have a large impact on who progresses from this section to the semifinals.

And don't go anywhere folks, because next up in the bowls is Aaron 'Disco' Wilson who is hunting down his third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal.

He is currently four from four so far in these games and is about to take on Cook Island's Royden Aperau.

Alrighty, lock in folks! The Diamonds-Roses match has just kicked off.

Both Australia and England made the most of their full teams on day two in Glasgow, with all 12 netball players on each side taking the court for their respective matches.

That includes five Commonwealth Games debutants, who represented Australia for the first time at yesterday's event.

Here's a bit about our newest Diamonds:

• Sophie Dwyer was born and bred in New South Wales, with the 24-year-old netballer currently living in suburban Sydney
• Sophie Garbin, 29, is originally from Kalgoorlie in Western Australia but now considers herself a Melburnian
• Meanwhile Matilda Garrett was born in Melbourne's suburbs, but the 27-year-old defensive player currently calls suburban Adelaide home
• South Australian Georgie Horjus, 24, hails from the capital city's north but now lives in Adelaide's south-east suburbs 
• Jamie-Lee Price, 30, was born a Sydney-sider but now resides in suburban Melbourne

Garbin (in GS) and Price (in WD) are on the starting line-up, alongside GA Kiera Austin, WA Liz Watson, C Kate Moloney, GD Joanna Weston and GK Courtney Bruce.

The Diamonds and Tonga were in the same slot yesterday – second in the first session.

As we arrived, a not insignificant number of fans were starting to file out after New Zealand played Scotland to kick off the day's play.

Today, the Hydro is heaving for this match-up between the last two Commonwealth Games gold medallists.

So we've had all the heats in the women's 100m freestyle, and it's been a good result for the Australian contingent.

As we said, Shayna Jack finished second in her heat behind England's Freya Anderson.

The following heat saw Australia's Meg Harris go out fast and hold her lead, as she won in a time of 53.91. Great stuff, she was nearly a second clear of Scotland's Evelyn Davis in 54.81.

The final heat saw Mollie O'Callaghan lead the field home in a time of 54.37, ahead of Welsh swimmer Theodora Taylor (54.80).

Harris is the fastest qualifier ahead of O'Callaghan, with Taylor in third and Davis in fourth.

Shayna Jack qualified in ninth. Well done to all the Aussies.

I love that often in the bowls, scoring is just decided by two of the competitors eye-balling which of the bowls is the closest to the jack. It seems so sporting.

But every so often, it's too close to call. In those instances, the umpire uses a box string to confirm which bowl is closer.

That's what just happened on end four for the Aussies — with the Australian bowl being the closest and securing Australia a 15-0 lead in the second set.

It's a big lead with one end to play.

The Scottish Thistles have won their match against Wales, 56-47, at The Hydro!

Thistles co-captain Emily Nicholl says she's incredibly proud of her team and says they'll now be looking to the next match.

"Today was all about us, it's our court, it's our home," she told media after the game.

"We're just getting started, that was just another step in the ladder."

It's great news for the Scots, clawing their way back on day three after losing to New Zealand yesterday.

Australia's netballers are up next, c'mon Diamonds!

Here we go, we're up to heat seven, and Shayna Jack is up.

She has a fast start and is in good form down the pool.

She leads at the 50, and is being challenged in the back 50.

Here comes England's Freya Anderson! She gets the touch with 55.25, ahead of Jack in 55.28m with England's Leah Schlosshan third in 55.30.

We're rattling through the heats of the women's 100m freestyle.

Most of the early heats don't have any seeded swimmers, or have people who haven't set an entry time ahead of the Games.

One of the latter is Bermuda's Elan Daley, who went in heat two of nine. She was in fair form, however, setting a gap on the field and coming home in a time of 56.66 seconds.

I don't think that will be enough to advance, but it's a great performance nonetheless.

The quicker heats will be up shortly.

Three fantastic bowls from Dawn Hayman in the first end set up the Aussies to take a 4-0 lead.

Again, Niue struggled with their length — often going too long and letting the Aussies build a big score.

It was another big score for the Aussies on end two, with all six bowls scoring.

That takes it out to a 10-0 lead for Australia in set two.

The women are doing exactly what they have to do.

This is a massive opportunity to pile pressure on the teams currently sitting above Australia on the table.

Ok, here we go folks, it's time to go to the Tollcross Swimming Centre for the heats session of day three.

We will be straight into it with the first event on the program, the women's 100m freestyle heats with Australia's Shayna Jack, Meg Harris and Mollie O'Callaghan in action.

So far so good for the Australian women's pair.

Australia have done exactly what they needed to do and locked in a strong first set 11-1 against Niue.

And what a shot from Kelsey Cottrell!

Her second bowl was inch-perfect, slightly pushing the jack so it was nicely cushioned against two Aussie bowls.

But Niue immediately follows it up with a fast one which cleans out of the Aussie bowls and limits the damage to just one.

Niue is an island in the Pacific roughly in line with Townsville in Queensland. It’s roughly in the middle of Samoa, Tonga and Cook Islands.

It's the country's seventh time competing at the Commonwealth Games.

It has a population of less than 2,000 people and there’s 11 athletes competing in the games.

That's a massive end for the Aussies and huge in the scheme of what's needed from this game.

All six of their bowls scored.

Niue tried a fast bowl to try and clean out the green — but it sped wide.

At the end of the fourth end, Australia is leading 10-1.

Being Scottish-born and Ireland-raised, I don't buy into these rivalries much (he says removing tongue from cheek).

But I reckon sport is about celebration ... and if you find you need to celebrate the per capita positions on the medal tally, go for it, I say!

That being said ... Wales (population a bit under 3.2 million people) has three medals — a silver and two bronze —  already. #JustSaying

Australia was looking exceptional there with the closest four bowls before Niue's Christine Ioane then stepped up and delivered an absolute gem which just gave the jack a light peck and secured it for her team.

Australia didn't do much wrong there.

It's 2-1 to the Aussies after the second end.

Remember they need to win and they need to win by as big a margin as possible.

The upcoming AUS-ENG meet marks the 50th netball match the Diamonds have played at the Commonwealth Games, so our impending win is basically written in the stars, right?

Back in 2018, England defeated Australia in the gold medal match of the Gold Coast Games — on our own soil, how rude!

But I hope we can set the record straight tonight, after all the Aussies do have a better track record than our opponents.

Of the 90 times our countries have played one another, the Diamonds hold 80 wins to the mere 9 secured by the Roses (with the teams drawing just once before).
