HYDERABAD

Deputy Floor Leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in the Assembly T. Harish Rao has accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of betraying tribal communities, failing farmers, misleading people on job creation and neglecting the welfare of SCs and STs.

Speaking to newspersons at Kodangal on Friday Mr. Harish Rao said it was ironic that Mr. Revanth Reddy was travelling to other States like Kerala and speaking about good governance and welfare while ST communities continue to face injustice, land-related harassment and official neglect in his Kodangal constituency.

Referring to the region’s tribal identity and sentiment, he said the Lokamasand Maharaj Bavoji temple, which is considered sacred by tribal communities in the area, had no proper connectivity, and it was during the BRS government ₹8 crore was released for the construction of a bridge across a local stream with the efforts of the then MLA P. Narender Reddy.

Another ₹80 lakh was sanctioned for the temple and ₹50 lakh for a Banjara Bhavan, demonstrating the BRS government’s commitment to the dignity and welfare of the tribal communities. It was the K. Chandrashekhar Rao Government that had upgraded 3,100 tribal hamlets into gram panchayats towards tribal self-respect and decentralised governance.

He accused the Congress Government of completely failing to honour the promises it made to SC and ST communities. He said the government had allocated ₹2,730 crore in the 2025-26 budget for the ST Corporation but had spent only ₹52 crore. Besides, ₹100 crore to the Sevalal Corporation but failed to release even a rupee.
