NEW DELHI: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a youth march on September 5 in Delhi, accusing the government of failing to honour commitments that led to the withdrawal of the students’ protest at Jantar Mantar on July 25.

The CJP said the government had failed to act on its assurance to withdraw FIRs against students and protesting students.The march will begin at India Gate and proceed towards the New Delhi Police Headquarters, according to a statement issued by the CJP National Working Committee, posted on X. The organisation said the protest would be led by families of deceased NEET victims and victims of alleged police brutality, with students and youth organisations expected to join.In the post, the CJP said, “The Cockroach Janta Party strongly condemns the Union Government’s failure to honour the commitments made to India’s youth on July 25, particularly those concerning the withdrawal of FIRs against students and protesters.”

“With the Government continuing to delay and avoid fulfilling its assurances, the CJP National Working Committee has decided to resume peaceful mobilisation,” it said.

The CJP said the decision followed a review of the commitments it alleges were made by the government on July 25, after which nationwide youth protests were withdrawn.The statement said the committee had expressed “serious doubts over whether the Government intends to honour its word at all”, alleging that the government had delayed action and avoided providing clear commitments.It also referred to proceedings before the Supreme Court, saying that on August 18, the court had sought a list of FIRs registered across the country so that it could consider dealing with them together.

The CJP alleged that the government had not given a clear commitment on the issue.

The organisation also added, “This cannot continue. Our patience cannot be mistaken for weakness. Our good faith cannot become an opportunity for the Government to betray us.”Announcing the September 5 mobilisation, the CJP said, “We announce a peaceful protest march from India Gate to the new Delhi Police Headquarters on 5 September, led by the families of the deceased NEET victims and victims of police brutality, and joined by students and young citizens from across the country.”The group said it had returned to the streets because the government “appears determined to commit a ‘vishwasghaat’ with Gen-Z, the young generation of this country, and the families who have already lost their children.”It further said, “We withdrew a nationwide movement in good faith. A government cannot take the trust of an entire generation, use it to send them home, and then quietly retreat from its own word. We will not accept this attempted betrayal.”The CJP has urged students, youth organisations and young citizens to gather at India Gate on September 5. “The families who lost their children will walk at the front. Victims of police brutality will walk with them,” the statement said.Earlier, the CJP, that describes itself as a youth-focused movement, had led a 37-day protest at Jantar Mantar over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, alongside activist Sonam Wangchuk’s 26-day hunger strike.

On July 25, following talks with Union ministers J P Nadda and Jitendra Singh, the CJP said the government had accepted its demands, including suitable compensation for families of NEET aspirants who died by suicide and withdrawal of FIRs against protesters.

“All our demands have been accepted, so we request the protesters to withdraw immediately and return home peacefully,” it said.The Supreme Court later directed states to release eligible students detained during the protests and barred coercive action against students for the time being.
