Studiocanal UK have released the first trailer for Eli Roth’s bloody new horror film Ice Cream Man.

The film takes place in a scenic summer town that turns into chaos after an ice cream man serves the kids their sweet treats with horrific results. The trailer shows plenty of blood-driven violence, seemingly a staple of Roth’s work, as kids start to turn on each other and the adults around them.

Eli Roth is known for directing films such as 2023’s Thanksgiving, the first two entries into the Hostel trilogy, and the big-screen adaptation of the hit videogame Borderlands. Outside of directing, Roth has starred in several big films, including Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds and Death Proof, as well as Southland Tales and a Jurassic Park sequel. The film is co-written by Roth and first-time collaborator Noah Belson.

The film stars Ari Millen as the villainous ice cream man, as well as Benjamin Byron Davis, Karen Cliche, Snoop Dogg, and Eli Roth himself. The film also sees Grammy-winning rapper Nas play the role of one of the film’s executive producers. Roth is also working on another film, Don’t Go in That House, Bitch!, which is being co-written by Snoop Dogg and has him starring in it too.

Though they share the same name, this film does not have anything to do with the 1995 horror comedy Ice Cream Man, starring Clint Howard. It is neither a sequel, prequel, nor remake of that film; it is its own thing.

Ice Cream Man releases in cinemas on 7th August.
