Apple TV has just unveiled the trailer for season six of Slow Horses, “a darkly humorous espionage drama” featuring Academy Award winner Sir Gary Oldman in the adaptation of the CWA Gold Dagger Award-winning Slough House book series by author Mick Herron. English comedian Will Smith is credited as creator and writer for the British spy series, which focuses on an M15 unit where disgraced agents are sent, with previous episode directors including James Hawes, Jeremy Lovering, Saul Metzstein and Adam Randall.

Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves,  Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Rosalind Eleazar, Joanna Scanlan, Samuel West, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke, Jonathan Pryce and Hugo Weaving additionally star, alongside newcomer Lenny Rush and Olivia Cooke.

The sixth season of Slow Horses will see “the Slow Horses on the run as Diana Taverner embroils them all in a fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge.”

Oldman appears in the show as Jackson Lamb, “the brilliant but cantankerous leader of the spies who end up in Slough House due to their career-ending mistakes and who frequently find themselves blundering around the smoke and mirrors of the espionage world.”

The star also holds executive producer credits.

Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Julian Stevens, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Adam Randall, Gail Mutrux and Douglas Urbanski produce for Seesaw Films, alongside Gaby Chiappe being credited as co-executive producer for the sixth season and Randall reprising to direct.

The last season saw Slow Horses earn nine nods at the Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Supporting Actor. Season two and season four hold a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside Metacritic scores ranging from 78-85.

Slow Horses marks Oldman’s sixteenth television acting credit, following Fox’s Greg the Bunny and HBO Max’s Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.

Slow Horses premieres on Apple TV on 16th September.
