Timir Ahmed Mohamed, 34, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder after a vehicle struck pedestrians outside a busy shopping centre in Ealing

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a vehicle struck multiple pedestrians outside a busy shopping centre in West London.

Timir Ahmed Mohamed, 34, allegedly drove away from the scene on Ealing Broadway at around 2.30pm on Saturday, leaving five people injured, with three taken to hospital.

Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London conducted initial inquiries, but officers say the incident is not being treated as terrorism.

On Sunday evening, the Metropolitan Police said Somalia-born Mohamed, of Grange Park, Ealing, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder as well as dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis and criminal damage.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Willesden Magistrates' Court on Monday.

None of the injuries were life-threatening or life-changing, and the two who were not taken to hospital received treatment at the scene.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We sent a number of resources including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, a volunteer emergency responder crew and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

"We treated three patients at the scene and took one of them to a major trauma centre by road as a priority. The other two patients were taken to a local hospital."
