Lisa in Coronation Street has left fans worried after some possible hints at a new storyline.

In recent episodes, there has been a focus on the detective taking painkillers. A recent scene had already sparked concern with viewers, with fans wondering if it was more than "just a headache".

So when a similar scene happened again on Monday and Lisa's wife Carla made a point of it, viewers were sure there was more to the scenes. Suggesting there has to be some relevance for the random repeated moments, fans wondered if it was a hint of what might happen to Lisa.

In the scenes, she was shown taking painkillers. In the latter scene, Carla made a comment about her taking yet more pain relief. Lisa claimed she was fine and it was "just a headache".

With the scenes being so close together, some viewers couldn't help but wonder if the show was hinting something. Carla's potential concern added to this, with viewers thinking that either a painkiller addiction plot could be on the way, or maybe there was more to Lisa's head pain.

Taking to social media, one fan said: "Is Lisa taking painkillers this morning relevant? Has a soap done an over the counter medication addiction storyline before?

"Some pain medication can increase the risk of a stroke. This SL has me questioning everything!" Another fan said: "So what’s Lisa popping pills for? Regular headache or is something more going to develop?"

Replying to this comment, a fan said: "I think the latter. Usually, when they show something random like that, more often than not there’s a reason for it."

A final theory read: "Potential addiction to over the counter medication storyline incoming in the near future." Others were not convinced though with a fan saying: "I think Lisa just got an headache."

Another added: "I think it’s a regular headache, she’s dealt with Becky, a car crash, fixing her relationship with Carla, preparing and getting married & trying to solve Theo’s murder without a break she would be exhausted."

It comes as a devastating twist airs for Lisa's teenaged daughter Betsy this week. The character is rushed to hospital after collapsing at home, with a life-changing diagnosis soon shared.

With new spoilers dropping on Tuesday covering more on this plot, fans will have to tune in this week to find out what has happened to Betsy. As she's discovered by Ryan Connor at the house, an ambulance is called and her mother Lisa Connor-Swain is left distraught.

As Lisa waits by her daughter's bedside, she's joined by her wife Carla Connor-Swain as they wait for news. There's panic ahead, as Betsy's condition worsens.

Soon, Betsy's partner Dylan Wilson is blamed for what has happened to her. But what has he done, and why is Dylan facing accusations? All will be revealed when the scenes air, and Lisa wants answers.
