BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran on Sunday urged the TVK-led government “not to pursue a confrontational approach” like the erstwhile DMK regime in Tamil Nadu with the Central government and to further speed up efforts to acquire lands for various railway projects and thereby stand by the Central government in boosting the infrastructure in the State.

In a social media post, Mr. Nagenthran referred to statements made by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in the Parliament in response to queries made by DMK MP Tiruchi Siva regarding railway projects in the State and fund allocations made for them. He pointed out that funds allocated to TN by the NDA government was eight times the funds allocated by the erstwhile UPA regime. “The Central government has pointed out that the erstwhile DMK regime has acquired only 1,178 hectares of the total requirement of 4,612 hectare for new projects,” Mr. Nagenthran said.
