With a depleted offense, Josh Allen took matters into his own hands to help the Buffalo Bills to a 37-34 overtime win against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football.

With wide receivers DJ Moore and Joshua Palmer both injured, Allen completed just 12 passes all night but rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown to record the first OT win of his career in eight attempts.

The Rams will feel they should’ve won it but Greg Rousseau blocked Harrison Mevis’ field goal, enabliing Allen to scramble 32 yards with his legs and Tyler Bass succeeded where Mevis failed to slot between the sticks and move the Bills to 4-1 for the season.

“Guys kept chipping away, defense kept going out there making plays, special teams was big tonight,” said Allen. “Don’t think we threw it very well, especially in the first half but our team kept fighting. We found a way to win, it’s the first OT [win] I’ve got, so it feels good being on this side.

“They got a really good defense and there was some opportunity there in the quarterback scramble game, just trying to extend some plays. Got a lot of things to clean up but I’ll take being 1-0 on this two-game west coast trip.”

McVay furious after letting Bills off the hook

While the Bills head home, the Rams have an awful lot to work on after squandering another gem by quarterback Matthew Stafford, who threw 40-for-54 for 383 yards and three touchdowns.

“If he’s not the greatest thrower of a football of all time, I don’t know who is,” Allen said of Stafford.

Head coach Sean McVay was particularly frustrated with his kicking unit with Mevis also missing a 50-yard effort in the first quarter.

“In the kicking game, especially with our PAT, field goal, not even close to good enough,” McVay said. “It cost us the game tonight.

“It’s been a while since I’ve been this pissed after a game.”

Wide receiver Puka Nacua, who finished with 17 catches for 138 receiving yards and a touchdown, added: “We go out there and we give the opportunity for our special teams to kind of go out there and get a field goal.

“We got to be able to execute, and if that’s not what we wanted to do, we got to find a way to convert on the critical downs.”

The Rams are now 2-3, good for third in the NFC West behind the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks.
