Since launching Basecamp in March, we’ve made a bunch of tweaks and fixed dozens of bugs that were brought to our attention. Now, we’ve rolled out several more significant upgrades. Find details here…

Back in March, we were excited to roll out the Bikepacking Collective Basecamp, a suite of new features for members, after years of planning and development. This toolset includes a three modules we hope will be useful to our supporters for finding ride partners, solving technical problems, and finding used gear—or passing it on to help others get rolling. While the platform is still fresh and evolving, we’ve been hard at work addressing issues as they arise, and we just rolled out a slew of new features and improvements. Read on for details.

First off, a couple of general housekeeping updates: We’ve added a Builder icon next to listings from Builder-level members—thanks for the extra support! In our humble opinion, this new badge adds a bit of flair (and clout) when posting your ride shares or selling items in the Bike Camp Co-op. Second, there’s now a verification alert when clicking the “Report as Scam” link; many users were accidentally submitting this. Here is a list of all the other changes by module:

Ride Rendezvous

  • Members can now edit their Ride Buddy Requests (with exception of the location/country and route fields).
  • Updates to Ride Buddy Requests will trigger notification emails to all parties that have Interactions linked to those rides—we think this will be a great feature for group rides and meetups to keep people in the loop.

Ask the Experts

  • A lot of members will be happy to hear that we opened up the Ask The Experts form to both Sustainer- and Builder-level Bikepacking Collective members, allowing more folks to post questions and reply to other members’ inquiries. Speaking of, Lynn M. posted a question a few weeks ago that stumped the team, so if anyone has a recommendation for chamois-less bibs (preferably with pockets), please chime in here!
  • In addition to opening up permissions, we’ve also provided the functionality to allow the question asker to post a few photos with their topic. This might come in handy in the event of more technical questions.

Bike Camp Co-op

  • The most-requested upgrade we’ve received since launch was a clickable “My Listings” page, allowing you to see everything a specific member has for sale; now every member who’s selling multiple items has one, which you can find linked under their name within any given listing. Here’s mine, as an example. We learned that some buyers were interested in the option to purchase multiple items from individual sellers, and we hope this makes it easier to do so!
  • As a small usability upgrade in the Interactions screen, the title of the listing item now links to the item detail.
  • The “Apply Filters” button is gone, and now the listings are filtered and updated as filters are selected.
  • Previously, once an item was marked as Pending, you had to mark it as Available before you could change the status to Sold; now you can automatically change from Pending to Sold directly.
  • Last but not least, listings are now “bumped” to the top when the price is reduced. Let the deals begin!

Stay tuned for more upgrades as we’re already working on the next round of changes.
