Caro Claire Burke’s Yesteryear is the novel that’s been on the tips of everyone’s tongues this summer, so it’s no surprise there’s already an adaptation in the works. While on the red carpet for her new movie, The End of Oak Street, Anne Hathaway shared her excitement for the film adaptation of Yesteryear, which she will be producing. Hathaway told The Hollywood Reporter, “One of my friends wrote me and said, ‘I can’t remember the last time that I immediately re-read a book.’ People are just loving it and I couldn’t be happier for Caro, what a triumph for her. And now we just have to do the movie justice.”

Celebrities! They’re just like us! They even write fanfiction. On an episode of Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast, The Shards star Kaia Gerber admitted that she’s a fanfiction writer. While she did not disclose what she writes about, Gerber did say, “I write fan fiction. It’s so fun to write something even if you don’t put it — like, I write fan fiction and I don’t put it anywhere, I just like it.” Now people are taking to social media to beg the actress to share her AO3 handle. Will Gerber cave and drop her account name? Only time will tell.

Bestselling authors Celeste Ng and Stephen Graham Jones will headline the 2026 Fall for the Book Festival. Northern Virginia’s largest literary festival will take place from October 6th through 10th this year. Jones, author of The Only Good Indians, My Heart is a Chainsaw, and The Buffalo Hunter Hunter, will appear at Harris Theatre on George Mason’s Fairfax Campus on Thursday, October 8. Meanwhile, Ng will discuss her bestselling novels Little Fires Everywhere, Everything I Never Told You, and Our Missing Hearts on Friday, October 9, at the Stacy C. Sherwood Center in Fairfax.
