Al-Nassr held on to beat Abha 2-1 as Cristiano Ronaldo and Abdullah Al-Hamdan got on the scoresheet before Nabil Fekir’s late free-kick gave the visitors hope.

Ronaldo opened the scoring after 22 minutes, heading home from close range following a corner to give Al-Nassr the lead.

The hosts had started brightly and continued to create opportunities after going in front, with Ronaldo seeing a shot saved by Abha goalkeeper Donovan Leon before striking the post in the 38th minute.

Al-Nassr also had chances to extend their advantage before half-time, but Leon kept out Ronaldo again shortly before the interval.

Abha threatened on the counter, with Alimami Gory hitting the post in the 24th minute and Nabil Fekir forcing a save from Bento late in the first half.

Al-Nassr eventually doubled their lead 13 minutes after the restart.

Al-Hamdan finished from the centre of the box in the 58th minute, sending a right-footed effort into the top-left corner to put the hosts in a strong position.

Ronaldo had earlier missed a free-kick and was caught offside shortly after the restart, while Al-Nassr continued to look for a third goal.

Abha, however, gave themselves a route back into the match when Fekir scored in the 75th minute.

The former Real Betis midfielder found the bottom-left corner with a left-footed free-kick, reducing the deficit to one and setting up a tense finish.

Al-Nassr were unable to add a third despite late pressure, with Ronaldo seeing another effort saved by Leon in the 88th minute.

Abha were unable to find an equaliser, with Al Nassr seeing out nine minutes of added time to secure all three points.
