ZANGILAN, Azerbaijan, August 2. The seventh Summer Camp for Diaspora Youth, jointly organized by Azerbaijan's State Committee on Work with Diaspora and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, officially opened today in Eastern Zangezur, Trend's correspondent reports from the event.

The opening ceremony is taking place at the Zangilan Congress Center.

The camp, running from August 2 to 8, 2026, is being held under the theme "Reviving Cities" in connection with President Ilham Aliyev's declaration of 2026 as the Year of Urban Development and Architecture.

More than 120 young representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora from 64 countries are taking part in the event.

The opening ceremony includes screenings of videos highlighting President Ilham Aliyev's historic visit to Zangilan and the raising of Azerbaijan's national flag in the city.

Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora Fuad Muradov is also scheduled to address the participants.

The program also features video presentations showcasing previous Summer Camps for Diaspora Youth, as well as the activities of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora.

During the week-long camp, participants will explore the historical and cultural heritage of Eastern Zangezur and Karabakh, meet with the families of martyrs, war veterans, government officials, and experts from various fields.

The agenda also includes panel discussions, seminars, visits to the territories liberated from occupation, Azerbaijani language classes, intellectual games, and a range of training sessions.

The first Summer Camp for Diaspora Youth was held in Sheki in 2018. Since then, more than 700 young members of the Azerbaijani diaspora from 84 countries have participated in camps hosted in Sheki, Shamakhi, Shusha, Nakhchivan, Lachin, and Khankendi.
