Aaron Sorkin‘s The Social Reckoning has a new Trailer online thanks to Sony Pictures Entertainment. It looks like Mark Zuckerberg walks a dangerous line…

This one stars Mikey Madison (as Frances Haugen), Jeremy Allen White (Jeff Horwitz) with Sorkin directing. This one is being promoted as an ‘Companion Piece’ rather than a straight up sequel to The Social Network which Sorkin wrote the script.

Since David Fincher’s 2010 film Mark Zuckerbergs Facebook is not the same social media platform. Sadly changed in too many ways, not all for the good much like it’s rival social media too toxic, intrusive.

Danger does come in many forms and The Social Reckoning, one of those dangers is whistleblowing. Despite the ‘best intentions’ of some whistleblowers overall reception for them is not great. This film is based on the true events of Facebook engineer Frances Haugen (Madison) who revealed those big changes to Wall Street journalist Jeff Horwitz (White).

The Social Network critically considered David Fincher‘s greatest film, can this one match it? It will be tough and I wonder if Mark Zuckerberg will come out of this in an even worse status?

This one also stars Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen with Bill Burr and Jeremy Strong (as Mark Zuckerberg).

Synopsis | A companion piece to the hit film The Social Network, Sorkin’s original screenplay is based on the events that gave rise to the Wall Street Journal’s shocking exposé The Facebook Files. The film is inspired by the true story of how Frances Haugen (Madison), a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets.

The Social Reckoning will arrive in UK, Irish and U.S cinemas 9th October.
