Pallium India will celebrate World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (WHPCD) on October 10 at Golden Palace Convention Centre, Neyyattinkara, bringing together patients, families, caregivers, healthcare professionals, volunteers and well-wishers for a day of celebration and togetherness. The programme will be inaugurated by renowned oncologist and writer, M. V. Pillai.
Sarah J. Easaw, Medical Director and Consultant Oncologist, Dr. K. M. Cherian Institute of Medical Sciences; M.S. Faizal Khan, Managing Director, NIMS Medicity and Chancellor, Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education; V.K. Jayakumar, Chairman, Sabarigiri International Schools; and Sheela Rani, Professor of Anaesthesia and Nodal Officer, Palliative Care, Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram will be the guests of honour. The event will be a gathering of the palliative care community, with cultural performances and programmes by patients, families, volunteers and well-wishers adding colour and warmth to the occasion.
The day will also recognise the courage of patients and the support of families, caregivers, healthcare professionals and volunteers who together make dignified care possible.
Through the celebration, Pallium India seeks to highlight the importance of palliative care as an essential component of healthcare and that every person living with a serious illness has the right to receive compassionate, dignified care.
