Prime Minister Mark Carney and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith announced the next steps for the proposed the West Coast oil pipeline, now called Pacific Link, in Fort McMurray, Alta., on Thursday. Carney confirmed the pipeline has been designated a project of national interest and would carry an additional one million barrels of oil a day to Asian markets. Ottawa aims to finalize project conditions by Sept. 1, 2027, with further Indigenous consultations, environmental reviews and planning still ahead. Smith said construction could begin as early as that date, calling the announcement “a monumental day for our province and for our country.” For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca/news/12083562/west-coast-pipeline-next-step/ Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Follow Global News on X HERE: http://bit.ly/1Toz8mt Follow Global News on TikTok HERE: https://www.tiktok.com/@globalnews.ca?lang=en #GlobalNews #canada #alberta #cdnpoli #abpoli #carney #smith
