I'm not entirely sure what the hell we just witnessed but I know the Eels and Roosters won tonight.

Neither of those games will be remembered as the best in show, but it was a bit of fun, right?

OK, so here's a little rundown of what the hell just happened there.

63rd minute: Tom Dearden goes within a metre of scoring but is instead hobbled by an ankle injury in a try-saving tackle. He tries to run it off and a few minutes later the Cowboys use their last interchange.

69th minute: Cowboys push their lead to 30-22 after Jake Clifford converts Tom Chester's try.

75th minute: Jordan Samrani scores, Mitchell Moses can't convert. Cowboys lead 30-26.

77th minute: Moses and Samrani combine to send Joash Papalii over. Moses can't convert. Scores tied 30-30.

80th minute: Jake Clifford launches a 45-metre field goal attempt that's touched by Junior Paulo in a chargedown attempt, clips the post and goes dead.

80th minute: Eels dropout goes long and Tom Mikaele knocks on about 40 metres out. The Eels take a couple of runs before Moses tries a long-range field goal but is charged down by Reed Mahoney. Mahoney hits the ball into Clifford for an accidental offside, which Moses tries to challenge somehow, pleading for a shot at a penalty goal, which it isn't. Golden point.

81st minute: Tom Dearden subs off as the extra period has given the Cowboys a new interchange.

81st minute: Ronald Volkman breaks down the left wing to get the Eels within field goal range and Mitchell Moses nails a shot from an angle and 32 metres out. Scott Drinkwater hit Moses's kicking leg as he leapt to attempt a charge down. Eels lead 31-30. Game over?

81st minute: The game refuses to end because referee Liam Kennedy has to award a penalty goal and put Drinkwater on report. Moses desperately tries to decline the penalty goal, but Kennedy tells him they have to take it.

82nd minute: Volkman kicks the penalty goal. Eels win 33-30.

The Eels tried to decline the penalty goal but weren't allowed, with referee Liam Kennedy saying "it's the rules of the game".

"The game's over, we don't want the penalty," Moses says.

"It's f***ing bullshit. We've won the game."

Kennedy: "I know but it's an extra two points."

Ronald Volkman pots the goal, but what would have happened if he'd hit the post and it rebounded back into play? I guess we'll never know.

The Eels breaks down the left and Mitchell Moses nails a field goal.

He's won the game, but it's still not over because Scott Drinkwater hit Moses's kicking leg, so it's a penalty goal as well!

Reed Mahoney charges down Mitchell Moses's field goal attempt and it ends the game.

Golden point gives the Cowboys an extra interchange, which means Tom Dearden has been able to sub off with that ankle injury.

The Eels go long with the dropout and Tom Mikaele knocks it on on halfway!

Jake Clifford belts a 45-metre field goal shot, but it skims the post and goes dead. But it was touched by Junior Paulo, so it's a dropout.

What a booming kick though. That copped a touch and still would have sailed 50 metres on the fly.

The ball is played inside the Eels' 30m line and Joash Papalii passes to Mitchell Moses, who executes a short-side special.

He unleashes Jordan Samrani, and credit to the centre, he weaves in-field to perfectly set up Papalii in support to score out wide.

Moses misses again! So it's 30-30 with two-and-a-half minutes left.

Jaxon Purdue gets caught up in the middle of the field and it leaves the Cowboys vulnerable out wide.

And Jordan Samrani takes advantage, stepping his way through a massive gap.

Gee there are some exhausted players out there right now.

Mitch Moses misses the conversion, so the Eels need to score another try to even force golden point.

The Eels run it on the last until Joash Papalii is forced to grubber in behind Jaxon Purdue. He gets back and tucks the ball into his belly, but he's called for a knock-on.

He's protesting furiously, but unfortunately Zac Laybutt already cost the Cowboys their captain's challenge.

The Eels attack the injured Cowboys halfback and Ronald Volkman burns him for pace, but credit to Dearden for still recovering enough to stop the pass to Josh Addo-Carr and clean up the kick that Volkman was forced to opt for as a result.

Great effort, but I'm very concerned about that ankle.

The Cowboys and Queensland halfback goes within a metre of scoring but is brought down from behind by Joash Papalii and Josh Addo-Carr.

His left foot got caught under the legs of the tacklers. I'm not certain it's a hip drop, but I honestly don't know at this point.

No, according to the referee, presumably because the players were both coming from behind.

He's still limping on that ankle.

Heilum Luki bursts onto a Scott Drinkwater short ball and into the back field. He finds Tom Dearden on the inside and Dearden passes to Reed Mahoney, who enjoys a moment against his former team for the second straight week.

The Cowboys' back-up hooker has only just come on the field and he's staying down after a Junior Paulo tackle.

Nothing untoward, the big prop just made a diving tackle and his weight fell on the outside of Luke's left knee, which bent very unnaturally.

He's walking off very gingerly. Looks for all money like a torn MCL.

And the club has confirmed.
