Paris Saint-Germain stunned Manchester City with two early goals to race into a 2-0 lead in their Champions League clash at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

Luis Enrique’s side arrived in Manchester looking to build on their 6-1 win over Slovan Bratislava in their opening league-phase fixture, and wasted little time putting Enzo Maresca’s men under pressure.

Desire Doue broke the deadlock in the 13th minute, driving a low finish inside the post and beyond Gianluigi Donnarumma after appearing set to pass to a team-mate.

The visitors then doubled their advantage through Ousmane Dembele, to leave City facing an uphill battle in front of their own supporters.

City had earlier appealed for a penalty following a challenge by Marquinhos on Rayan Cherki, but the referee waved away their protests, and VAR backed the on-field decision.

The hosts entered the contest having won all six of their Premier League matches this season, including a 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
