NEW DELHI: In a rollback of its earlier directive, the C Joseph Vijay-led Tamil Nadu government has withdrawn an order given to three departments that called for coordinated action to prevent school and college students and young people from taking part in protests and agitations.According to an official communication issued by the Department of Collegiate Education, the measures were aimed at programmes organised by Left-wing parties and the Tamil Nadu Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

The Directorate of Collegiate Education (DCE) had asked the departments and district administrations to take appropriate action to discourage and prevent students from joining such programmes. The authorities weredirected to coordinate their efforts and submit reports detailing the action taken.The directive came as part of instructions to prevent students and youth from participating in political protests and agitation programmes organised by the parties named in the communication.
