Veteran journalist N.C. Gundu Rao, who had worked in Deccan Herald in various capacities for nearly 40 years, died here on Thursday following a cardiac arrest. He was 78, and is survived by wife and two daughters.

Mr. Gundu Rao, a native of Shivamogga district, retired from service in 2005 as Associate Editor.
