Billionaire Anil Agarwal-led Vedanta, which is in the process of splitting its business into six different listed entities, has reported that its saleable zinc production was up 2 per cent at 2.02 lakh tonne while that of lead and silver were down 29 per cent and 22 per cent at 45,000 tonne and 144 tonne in September quarter.
The company’s aluminium production was up one per cent at 6.17 lakh tonne while alumina output jumped 31 per cent to 6.53 lakh tonne (4.99 lakh tonne).
The zinc production in its international operations were up 38 per cent at 60,000 tonne driven by higher milled tonnes and higher lead grades, said the company.
Oil and Gas production was down 16 per cent at 8 million barrels. Iron ore production was down 19 per cent at 1.1 million tonne while sales was down 33 per cent at 0.7 million tonne due to higher unseasonal rain.
Pig iorn output increased to 2.38 lakh tonne due to debottlenecking of blast furnace.
Finished steel value added product output was down 8 per cent at 2.74 lakh tonne due to maintenance activities undertaken in one of the furnaces.
While ferro-chrome production was down 28 per cent at 19,000 tonne, ore output increased to 24 per cent to 47,000 tonne. Copper cathode production was down 3 per cent at 40 tonne. Power sales dipped 2 per cent to 4,331 million units.
Talwandi Sabo Power’s PPA (power purchase agreement) with the state utility compensates Vedanta based on plant availability. With TSPL’s availability in Q2 at 90 per cent, the company’s revenue will continue to be strong, it said.
The Phase-2 (700 MW) of Meenakshi power plant is now operational as the Units 3 and 4 commenced generation from July and September, respectively. Athena started its commercial operation from July, said the company.
