US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that it is "indeed the golden age of America". Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly 2025, the 47th US president said that American growth is superior to that of any economy across the globe. Trump also reiterated that his administration has brokered seven major mediations to avoid major escalations. 

He also warned of major additional sanctions against Russia over its ongoing war against Ukraine, accusing India and China of being the main funders of war. "My position is very simple: the world’s number one sponsor of terror can never be allowed to possess the most dangerous weapon," he said.

Once again, Trump claimed to have stopped a war between India and Pakistan earlier this year. However, India has maintained that peace was achieved through bilateral military and diplomatic engagement, stating firmly that US mediation did not play a decisive role in the matter.

Trump speaks without teleprompter because... 

"I don't mind making this speech without a teleprompter -- because the teleprompter is not working... I can only say that whoever is operating this teleprompter is in big trouble," he said. 

His remarks came on the second day of the 'General Assembly High-level Week' that commenced on September 22.

Enter US illegally and you are going to jail, or you're back, or perhaps...: Trump

• Our message is very simple: If you come illegally into the US, you are going to jail, or you're going back to where you came from, or perhaps even further than that

• One year ago, our country was in deep trouble, but today, just eight months into my Administration, we are the hottest country anywhere in the world -- and there is nobody even close
• America is blessed with the strongest economy, the strongest borders, the strongest military, the strongest friendships, and the strongest spirit of any nation on the face of the earth
• On the world stage, America is respected again... like it has never been respected before 
• In just seven months, I have ended seven un-endable wars

• Instead of giving in to Hamas’s ransom demands, those who want peace should be united with one message: Release the hostages now!
• I have come here today to offer the hand of American leadership and friendship to any nation in this Assembly that is willing to join us in forging a safer, more prosperous world

• In the event that Russia is not ready to make a deal to end the war, the US is fully prepared to impose a very strong round of powerful tariffs

• But for those tariffs to be effective, European nations would have to join us in adopting the exact same measures

• They have to immediately cease all energy purchases from Russia

• As we seek to reduce the threat of dangerous weapons, I'm also calling on every nation to join us in ending the development of biological weapons once and for all

UN not solving the problems it should: Trump

• Not only is UN not solving the problems it should, it is actually creating new problems

• UN is funding an assault on Western countries and their borders; it is supposed to stop invasions, not create them and not finance them

• Where migrants have violated laws, lodged false asylum claims, or claimed refugee status for illegitimate reasons, they should in many cases be immediately sent home

• We have to solve it in their countries, not create new problems in our countries

• Europe is in serious trouble

• They've been invaded by a force of illegal aliens like the world has never seen; because they choose to be politically correct, they are doing nothing about it

• In 2024, almost 50 per cent of inmates in German prisons were foreign nationals or migrants; In Switzerland, it was 72 per cent

• When your prisons are filled with so-called asylum-seekers who repaid kindness with crime, it's time to end the failed experiment of open borders

What is the UNGA 2025?

Organised at the UN headquarters in New York, United States of America, the event comprises an annual gathering of heads of state and governments where world leaders are scheduled to make statements and outline their positions on a host of global challenges.

This is the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, with the theme 'Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights'.

This year’s high-level week highlights the urgency of delivering on the promise of the Sustainable Development Goals and reinvigorating global cooperation.

The annual gathering of the UNGA comprises all 193 UN member states, each having one vote. The UNGA -- one of the six principal UN organs, besides the UN Security Council, the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the Secretariat, the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and the Trusteeship Council.

The UNGA meets every year to perform three main tasks:
