An accused in the 2008 Bengaluru serial blasts case, who was lodged in Parappana Agrahara Central Prison, developed health complications and died on Friday (June 12), the police said.
The Parappana Agrahara police have registered an Unnatural Death Report (UDR). The body has been shifted to a hospital for a post-mortem.
The deceased is Abdul Khader, who was in his late 60s and hailed from Madikeri. He was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) after it took over the case from the Bengaluru City Police.
According to the police, Khader was an undertrial prisoner. Sources said that Khader had been suffering from health issues for more than a decade. He was under medical supervision.
“He was diabetic and had kidney-related ailments for a long time. He had been in prison for 16 years,” an officer said. He developed health complications around 1.45 p.m. and breathed his last before he could be shifted to a hospital for treatment.
