Tension gripped the busy Kanakapura Main Road on Monday (September 28) afternoon after a truck and motorcycle caught fire following a freak accident in Talaghattapura. The motorcyclist was injured in the collision.

According to the Talaghattapura traffic police, the accident occurred around 12.30 p.m. when the motorcycle collided with the lorry. Soon after the accident, the lorry’s engine compartment caught fire, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air and disrupting traffic on the busy stretch.

The injured rider was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the lorry driver reportedly escaped with minor injuries.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control. Traffic police cordoned off the area and briefly diverted vehicles to facilitate firefighting operations and remove the damaged vehicles.

Traffic movement returned to normal after the clearance operation.

The police have registered a case and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from nearby establishments and statements from eyewitnesses are being examined to ascertain the exact sequence of events leading to the collision and the subsequent fire. The cause of the blaze is yet to be established.
