Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud has hit out at the BJP, accusing it of trying to polarise voters on religious lines in every election.

Addressing Congress party functionaries in Mancherial town on Friday, he alleged that the BJP was fomenting divisive politics for electoral gains. The BJP-led government at the Centre weakened the public sector units and thrust anti-labour and anti-farmer policies on the country.

The BJP is resorting to ‘diversionary tactics’ to cover up its failures and anti-people policies, he said, taking a dig at the saffron party apparently referring to the upcoming elections in various States.

He lashed out at the BRS, accusing the previous rulers of imposing a huge debt burden on the State. The BRS is witnessing internal bickering due to disputes over sharing of the looted wealth, he charged.

Taking a swipe at the BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, he said the previous BRS rulers made ‘hollow claims’ about attracting investments to the State. “The Congress government-led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy secured huge investments to Telangana from investors abroad in the last two years,” he asserted.

Speaking at a meeting in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district, he said that nearly 70% of Congress district presidents in the State belong to SC, ST, BC, and minority communities, reflecting the party’s commitment to social justice.

He claimed that the Congress has historically empowered Dalits, tribals, SCs and BCs by providing them with key positions and leadership roles.

Responding to questions on former minister Jeevan Reddy’s resignation, he said that Mr. Reddy chose to leave the party despite persuasion. Claiming that there is virtually no effective opposition in Telangana, he alleged that the BRS was a party rooted in exploitation and BJP has no scope for growth. “Where will Mr. Reddy go.”
