Overall exports of ginger equaled US$1.43 billion in 2025, down by -6.7% year over year compared to $1.53 billion in 2024 but up by 13.8% from $1.25 billion for 5 years earlier in 2021.

International sales of crushed or ground ginger exported by all countries totaled $210.6 million in 2025.

That dollar figure reflects a 68.9% advance since 2021 and a 22.4% acceleration from 2024 to 2025.

In comparison, exported raw ginger (before it is crushed or ground) amounted to a much higher $1.22 billion in 2025, up by 7.7% over the 5-year period starting in 2021 but declining by -10.4% from 2024 to 2025.

The 5 biggest exporters of crushed or ground ginger are mainland China, Saudi Arabia, India, Netherlands and Vietnam approached three-quarters (71.9%) of worldwide revenues from exported crushed or ground ginger.

The top 5 exporters of raw ginger are mainland China, Netherlands, India, Thailand and Peru. Collectively, that cohort sold over four-fifths (82.9%) of exports for unprocessed ginger in 2025.

Both percentages for processed and raw ginger indicate relatively concentrated sets of commodity suppliers.

For research purposes, the 6-digit Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) code prefix for crushed or ground ginger is 091012. The 6-digit HTS prefix for non-crushed and non-ground ginger is 091011.

Below are the 15 countries that exported the highest dollar value worth of crushed or ground ginger during 2025.

  1. mainland China: US$68.7 million (32.6% of crushed or ground ginger exports)
  2. Saudi Arabia: $27.8 million (13.2%)
  3. India: $27.5 million (13.1%)
  4. Netherlands: $16.1 million (7.7%)
  5. Vietnam: $11.3 million (5.4%)
  6. Germany: $9.6 million (4.5%)
  7. Nigeria: $7.3 million (3.4%)
  8. Spain: $4.1 million (2%)
  9. France: $3.6 million (1.7%)
  10. Peru: $2.9 million (1.4%)
  11. United States: $2.7 million (1.3%)
  12. Pakistan: $2.5 million (1.2%)
  13. Belgium: $2.2 million (1.1%)
  14. Poland: $2 million (1%)
  15. United Kingdom: $1.9 million (0.9%)

By value, the listed 15 countries shipped 90.3% of global crushed or ground ginger exported in 2025.

Among the top exporters, the fastest-growing crushed or ground ginger exporters since 2024 were: Poland (up 159.9%), Nigeria (up 129.2%), Netherlands (up 102.5%) and Vietnam (up 89.8%).

Those countries that posted year-over-year declines in their exported crushedor ground ginger sales were: United States of America (down -42.6%), Belgium (down -37.5%), Germany (down -27.5%) and Saudi Arabia (down -3.1%).

  1. mainland China: US$561.7 million (46.2% of non-crushed/non-ground ginger exports)
  2. Netherlands: $135 million (11.1%)
  3. India: $132.8 million (10.9%)
  4. Thailand: $90.5 million (7.4%)
  5. Peru: $88.5 million (7.3%)
  6. Brazil: $63 million (5.2%)
  7. Vietnam: $22.1 million (1.8%)
  8. Germany: $17.8 million (1.5%)
  9. Spain: $14.5 million (1.2%)
  10. Myanmar: $8 million (0.7%)
  11. United States: $7.6 million (0.6%)
  12. United Kingdom: $7 million (0.6%)
  13. Honduras: $6.9 million (0.6%)
  14. Nepal: $5.8 million (0.5%)

By value, the listed 15 countries shipped 95.8% of all global non-crushed and non-ground ginger exported in 2025.

Among the top exporters, the fastest-growing non-crushed/non-ground ginger exporters since 2024 were: Honduras (up 484.1%), United Kingdom (up 213.2%), India (up 75.4%) and Nepal (up 38.1%).

Those countries that posted year-over-year declines in their exported non-crushed/non-ground ginger sales were led by: Myanmar (down -65%), United States of America (down -26.4%), mainland China (down -17.9%), Peru (down -15.2%) and Italy (down -13.6%).
