The Wilde Blaise build is a complete offering from the Minneapolis-based brand that aims to strike a balance between quality and affordability. Brought forth by their lead mechanic and inspired by what many Wilde customers have specced on their custom Rambler builds, the Wilde Blaise build is a sub-$4,000 complete that tries to offer an out-of-the-box experience that feels unnecessary to upgrade. Building around their Wilde Rambler frame, the bike features a Velo Orange finish kit, a Shimano GRX drivetrain, and some high-quality touch points. Although the full build kit is listed below, some additional bonuses include the use of SimWorks shift and brake cables, Blue Lug brass crank caps, and Velo Orange’s brass and silver headset spacers to add a bit more flair.
- Frame: Wilde Rambler
- Crankset: Velo Orange square taper crank with 42T chainring
- Derailleur: Shimano GRX 11 speed
- Shifter: RS700 Rapid Fire
- Cassette: Shimano M5100 11-42
- Bottom Bracket: Velo Orange
- Wheels: Suzue Gravel wheelset with Ukai rims
- Tires: Panaracer Gravelking X1 Plus
- Headset: Velo Orange cartridge
- Handlebar: Nitto x Wilde Country Bar
- Stem: Velo Orange
- Grips: Oury Single Compound
- Saddle: Brooks B17 saddle
- Seatpost: Velo Orange
- Brake Levers: IRD flat bar levers
- Brake Calipers: TRP Spyres
The Blaise build is available through Wilde for $3,500 and can be customized if requested. While the price is not to be scoffed at, it’s nice to see a small, US-based brand attempt to offer some middle ground between bling and bargain builds. Given what much larger companies are offering for full builds these days, it’s a competitive complete that needs few, if any, upgrades out of the box.
