The original Pontos packable kayak was crowdfunded in 2022, and after several years of tinkering and refinement, the Pontos 2.0 is now available for pre-order in a newly launched Kickstarter campaign.

In short, the Pontos is a lightweight, packable skin-on-frame kayak designed for folks seeking flat-water performance without the usual storage and transport challenges of traditional hardshell kayaks. Unlike a packraft, it won’t hold your bike, but as it weighs just seven pounds and packs down to the size of a two-person tent, hauling it out to a lake or river could be a fun way to add variety to your rides. Setting it up takes just seven minutes.

The travel-friendly Pontos is made from a durable TPU nylon shell and wrapped around a lightweight carbon fiber frame that can be disassembled into 18″ sections connected by elastic cords. An inflatable seat adds a little comfort and support. Built up, the Pontos measures 10’6” long by a compact 31” wide, making it plenty nimble on the water.

Purchased through Kickstarter today, a Pontos will set you back $575, with estimated delivery in February 2027. At the time of publishing, the small brand has already raised an impressive $113,000 of its $50,000 goal in less than a day.
