Teased last year at Eurobike, the suspension experts at Intend in Germany have finally unveiled their new dropper post and dropper post lever: the Elevator Dropper and Elevator Boy. Like Intend’s other components—including their high-end inverted suspension forks—the Elevator Dropper and Elevator Boy are assembled by hand in Freiburg, Germany, but instead of starting from scratch, they partnered with a Taiwanese manufacturer to bring the project to life.

Intend Elevator Dropper Post

The Elevator Dropper Post looks like any old dropper post, but it has some interesting tech inside. To slow down the dropper post travel at the bottom, they use something they call Safe Space Technology, which is essentially a sealed air volume in the base of the dropper post body. It functions much like the lower legs of a suspension fork, and as the post compresses, trapped air builds pressure to create a “cushion” instead of slamming down. On the way up, the compressed air volume provides a nice little lift for the rider. The lower section of the post is completely sealed, keeping dirt, grease, and the post’s internals separated.

For now, the Elevator Dropper Post is only available with a 31.6mm diameter and eight travel options from 190mm to 120mm. Intend says they’ve eliminated as much side-to-side play in the post as possible by using dual piston-rod bearings and bronze/PTFE bushings instead of standard plastic ones. The Elevator dropper is also self-bleeding and is lubricated with oil, not grease, which they say should keep it running smoothly for years. It weighs 564 grams (without a lever) and costs €379 (~$440 USD) including 19% VAT. Find details at Intend.

Intend Elevator Boy

Every elevator needs an elevator boy. Designed to work with any cable-actuated dropper post on the market, the Elevator Boy uses dual bearings for smooth, play-free lever action. The cable connects to the lever using a V-brake-style slotted nut, so it can be disengaged and installed tool-free.

The Elevator Boy uses a SRAM Matchmaker mount, weighs just 27 grams, and costs €79 (~$90 USD) incl. 19% VAT. See details at Intend.
