It’s finally here! Marvel Entertainment has finally released the first trailer for their heavily anticipated mammoth feature release, Avengers: Doomsday, the 39th MCU instalment and the sequel to Avengers: Endgame, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely.

The film will feature an ensemble cast including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Sir Ian McKellen and many, many more.

Adapted from the comics Secret Wars, The Books of Doom, Time Runs Out, and Emperor Doom, Avengers: Doomsday will see the Avengers team up with the X-Men, Fantastic Four, the Wakandians, and the New Avengers across numerous universes to battle the threat of the supervillain Doom. The film is part of the Multiverse Saga and Phase Six of the MCU, with a sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, set to conclude on December 17th, 2027.

Fans’ anticipation for the film has been generated by teaser trailers and post-credit scenes in recent Marvel releases, showing which superheroes will be “returning for Doomsday“, a line which is becoming one of the most quoted and replicated in modern film talk.

Avengers fans will finally see their iconic superhero team reunite after seven years.

Avengers: Doomsday sees Iron Man star Downey Jr. return to the MCU following the events of Endgame in his second role as supervillain Victor von Doom, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1962 and first appearing in The Fantastic Four #5.  The character is a monarch of the fictional land of Latveria and of Romani origin, characterised by a scarred face, superhuman strength, flight, and high-tech weaponry alongside his armour. He is obsessed with battling against the Fantastic Four while occasionally taking on the Avengers, Spider-Man, Black Panther and Doctor Strange.

The character was previously played by Julian McMahon in 2005’s Fantastic Four and by Toby Kebbell in the 2015 attempted reboot.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released in cinemas on 18th December.
