Jack Hale's car veered off the road crashing into a group of tents at the campsite in Pembrokeshire

A teenager has admitted crashing his car into a campsite and injuring several people, police have said.

Jack Hale appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates' Court on Tuesday where he admitted four counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The 19-year-old, from Simpsons Cross in Haverfordwest, was released on bail and will be sentenced at Swansea Crown Court in July.

Several people were injured and taken to hospital as a result of the crash in Newgale, Pembrokeshire, on 12 August 2023.

Hale was driving a Ford Fiesta and had passengers in the car when the crash took place.

Dyfed-Powys Police said the incident occurred just after 22:30 BST.

The car went over a ditch and rolled into a tent that had a baby asleep inside at the time.

The baby escaped serious injury as it was in a cot, according to the campsite owner following the incident.

The car veered into the campsite just after the point where the speed limit changes from 60mph to 30mph

Mike Harris told the BBC he "couldn't believe" the speed of the car after reviewing the CCTV footage of the crash.

At the time, the road's speed limit changed from a 60mph (100km/h) to 30mph (50km/h) just beside the entrance to the campsite, with tents just a few feet away from passing cars.

Hale will be sentenced on either 11 or 12 July.
