In a concerning incident this week, a 15-year-old student was apprehended for allegedly carrying a loaded firearm into his public high school in Queens, police and law enforcement officials reported. The teenager, already wanted in connection with an assault case, was found with the weapon concealed in his backpack when authorities arrived at Long Island City High School in Astoria to arrest him around 12:50 p.m. on Monday.

Upon his arrest, the young suspect faced charges of criminal possession of a weapon. Additionally, he, along with two other juveniles, was also taken into custody for their alleged involvement in an assault that had occurred the previous week, according to sources. Specifics about the assault incident remain undisclosed at this time.

This unsettling event unfolded less than a week after a similar case at Cascades High School on the Lower East Side, where a 16-year-old was discovered with a loaded 9-millimeter handgun tucked inside his coat pocket. These incidents underscore growing concerns about safety and security within the school environment.

He and two other kids were also arrested for an assault, which took place last week, according to the sources. 

No further details about that incident were immediately available.

The incident comes less than a week after a 16-year-old boy was nabbed with a loaded 9-millimeter handgun in his coat pocket at Cascades High School on the Lower East Side, cops and sources said.

A day earlier, an 11-year-old girl stabbed a 12-year-old boy inside IS 218 on Gerard Avenue near East 167th Street in the Concourse section of the Bronx, cops and sources said.
