Sharan Prakash Patil, Minister for Medical Education, on Thursday, highlighted the State government’s efforts towards prioritising sustainable development through health and education.
“Health and education are essential for everyone. Prioritising sustainable development through these pillars is the key goal of our government. We are making consistent efforts in this direction,” the Minister said.
Delivering the keynote address at the 30th Foundation Day celebrations of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Mr. Patil emphasised that a strong foundation in education is crucial for a nation’s progress. He recalled that India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, had laid great emphasis on education with a visionary approach.
Mr. Patil highlighted the importance of aligning with global priorities defined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). “Good health, well-being, and quality education are crucial components in achieving these objectives. Health and education are not merely goals—they are the essence of human dignity,” he added.
He further emphasised the need to effectively adopt digital health, telemedicine, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven diagnostics. RGUHS, he said, should be a hub that meets public needs with innovation and transforms knowledge into action.
RGUHS vice-chancellor Bhagawan B.C., registrar P.R. Shivaprasad and others were present on the occasion.
