The Channel 4 presenter was less than impressed by his co-star's choice of food on the programme.

Tim Lovejoy wasted no time in letting Simon Rimmer know his thoughts.

During the latest episode of Sunday Brunch, Channel 4 viewers saw presenters Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer welcome a plethora of guests onto the show.

The likes of Ralf Little, Siân Brooke, Caitlin Moran and Adam Frost were on the panel to discuss their upcoming projects, along with tasting some delicious dishes whipped up by Simon.

However, when he announced the first meal he'd be making them, Tim was quick to call him out on his decision.

Simon announced: "We're starting off with your black bean sweet potato quesadilla. Then it's a lamb Greek salad, kebab style, which is nice and fresh and summery for the hot weather and then for pudding it's banoffee pavlova, which is a nice way to end the show."

Tim asked: "Are you seriously going to make Mexican food today? Seriously, seriously, Simon? He's not thought this through, has he?"

The duo were referring to the upcoming World Cup match, which will see England's team go head-to-head with Mexico in the early hours of Monday morning.

When the chef started cooking the quesadillas, Tim added it was as though he was setting the mood ahead of the upcoming match. Simon replied: "Exactly! A celebration, it's also really delicious."

As the celebrities tucked into their meal, they complimented how well it tasted, although Caitlin Moran couldn't resist another dig at his decision to make Mexican food as she jibed: "It's not patriotic, but it's delicious."

Simon joked he was waiting for the backlash on his decision and the blame that he'd get if England didn't get through to the next stages in the sporting tournament.

After the meal was created, Tim confessed that although it was a delicious meal, he felt disloyal eating cuisine from the opposing football team.

Simon jokingly said sorry for his choice as he remarked: "If England do lose tonight, then I do apologise for making quesadillas on a programme on Channel 4 on Sunday morning. It is my fault."

The upcoming World Cup match will broadcast at 1 am BST on Monday morning at the iconic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, despite talks that it could be moved to an earlier slot due to weather concerns. Footballer Marcus Rashford touched on the bad weather forecast as he was asked if that could be a disadvantage for England.

He replied: "It doesn't matter, it's a game of football at the end of the day. It might be a small adjustment that we need to make, but in the end it doesn't change our outlook on the game and what we're trying to do."
