The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Public Examinations-2026 began Monday (March 16, 2026) across the State. The examinations were conducted peacefully at all the examination centres, according to a press statement from the Board of Secondary Education.

Students, with their eyes fixed on their books, were seen making last-minute revision, which was held between 9.30 a.m. and 12.45 p.m.

On the first day, 6,22,217 out of the 6,29,109 registered candidates appeared for the exam, clocking an attendance percentage of 98.90%. In all, 6,852 candidates were absent. The examinations were conducted at 3,415 examination centres across the State.

According to the press note, the Board of Secondary Education has put in place a monitoring mechanism to ensure fair and smooth conduct of the examinations. As part of these arrangements, a total of 1,753 centre visits were conducted by various monitoring authorities, including District Collectors, District Level Observers, District Educational Officers, ACGEs, District Monitoring Coordinators, Flying Squads, and other officials across examination centres throughout the State.

It was brought to the notice of the authorities that two invigilators in YSR Kadapa district, one invigilator in Anantapur district, and one invigilator in Palnadu district were found negligent in the discharge of their examination duties. The matter has been viewed seriously, and stringent action would be taken against the concerned invigilators in accordance with the prescribed rules and procedures governing the conduct of examinations, according to the note.

The exams will conclude on April 1.
